Our 314 acres of rolling hills, home to an internationally recognized Level III Arboretum (one of only 50+ worldwide), offer a breathtaking backdrop to appreciate both nature and history. Explore the grounds of the oldest Garden Cemetery west of the Mississippi, the final resting place of notable figures like General William Clark and Adolphus Busch, and discover iconic architecture along our 14 miles of roadway. With nearly 10,000 diverse trees and shrubs, this is a unique opportunity for a peaceful in-person or virtual run/walk through a living landscape.

Exciting enhancements are underway at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Friends of Bellefontaine! Prepare to enjoy revitalized historic spaces, including the Amaranth House and Gatehouse, Hawthorn Gatehouse, and Hotchkiss Chapel, all undergoing comprehensive refurbishment to offer versatile educational and community spaces, along with much-needed accessible restrooms, with anticipated completion this summer. Additionally, new and expanded historic interpretive trails, including an accessible option, are being installed to enrich our programming in history, horticulture, and nature, offering engaging experiences for all our visitors.
